Cheddar and Chive Air Fryer Biscuits
Did you know that you can make healthy biscuits in the air fryer? I found this out after a failed attempt at making some high protein cinnamon scones that turned out more like biscuits. So, I figured I had to make a savory version. While these are by no means traditional biscuits with the buttery layers, these cheddar and chive air fryer biscuits are super delicious and significantly healthier. And you would never know that each one is packed with 8 grams of protein!

The secret ingredient that gives these air fryer biscuits so much protein? Cottage cheese. It helps add moisture to the biscuits and also creates a super soft texture. And don’t worry about the blending the cottage cheese first. The curds actually melt while cooking so you won’t have any weird clumps of cottage cheese in your biscuits!

These biscuits are so easy to make and are ready in just about 25 to 30 minutes! You’ll simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl, roll out the dough, and pop them in the air fryer. They cook for about 12 minutes, and then you’re left with soft, warm, cheesy biscuits. I like to cut them in half and add a pat of salted butter and eat them warm. But they would also be great as a vessel for egg sandwiches, too.

I recommend storing these in the fridge because they do have cottage cheese and cheddar cheese in them. When you’re ready to eat, you can cut one in half and pop it in the toaster or air fryer to heat it up. The microwave tends to dry them out, but if you wrap it in a wet paper towel first that may help maintain some of the moisture.

Cheddar and Chive Air Fryer Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (plus more, for rolling)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 oz cheddar cheese, grated (about 1/2 cup)
- 1/3 cup chives, diced
- oil spray
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add egg and whisk. Add cottage cheese and whisk again to combine.
- Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and mix again to combine.
- Add cheese and chives and mix again until combined. It may be easier to mix with your hands at this point as the dough will be very thick.
- Sprinkle a little flour onto a clean counter or cutting board. Shape the dough into a ball and roll it out until it is about 1 inch thick. Slice into thirds both ways to create 9 biscuits.
- Line air fryer basket with parchment paper and spray with oil spray.
- Add biscuits to the air fryer and space them about 1 inch apart if possible. Spray the tops of the biscuits with oil spray.
- Air fry at 350F for 10 minutes until golden brown on top and puffed up. Flip biscuits and air fry for 2 more minutes.
