If you loved strawberry malts and good humor bars growing up, you are going to love this malted strawberry shortcake protein shake. It’s the perfect summer treat that’s still packed with protein and nutrients! It takes less than 10 minutes to throw this shake together for an easy breakfast or snack.

Malted Strawberry Shortcake Protein Shake

I personally love malt flavor, but if that’s not your thing or you don’t have any malt powder at home, you can definitely skip that ingredient. I ordered this malt powder on amazon and it’s got that classic diner malt shake flavor. But, I love that you can use it in a healthier shake to get a similar flavor without all the added sugars. For the cookie crumble in this recipe, I used the simple mills honey cinnamon sweet thins. These are delicious on their own, by the way.

And of course, I always add protein to my smoothies and shakes to help balance blood sugar and stay fuller for longer. This shake gets its protein from a combination of greek yogurt (or cottage cheese) and protein powder. I hope you enjoy this malted strawberry shortcake protein shake! • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp crushed cookies or graham crackers (I used simple mills sweet thins)

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender besides the crushed cookies. Blend for 1-2 minutes until smooth. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk to help it blend.
